The Speaking Proficiency English Assessment
Kit (SPEAK) is an oral test developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS),
publishers of the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), an industry standard for assessing English
proficiency for non-native speakers. The SPEAK is administered to non-native
English speakers. Its aim is to evaluate the examinee's proficiency in spoken
English. It is usually taken as a professional certification, especially for
graduate teaching assistants in the American college and university system, who
are often required to hold office hours and converse in English with students.
It is also used in the medical profession, where communication with patients is
required.
IMHO, enrolling in a review center is a
waste of money, practice is all you need.

child diseases like the common ones and there treatments.may
score.
dito once pumasa ka for medical na agad at hindi kana undergo interview with an
papers mo
*****
SPEAK TEST
- 15mins webcam like recorded na test.
- questions about caregiver knowledge.
dalawa makukuha mo na score highest is 5.
english fluency tsaka caregiver knowledge.
She only
asked me how old is my client, how will I manage her time, where did I took my
caregiver training, and what is my position in my current job. yun lang.
*****
on my own experience sa speaktest,,di naman talaga abot ng 3
mins..each question is about 90 seconds lang,,kasama na yung pagbasa sa
question..5 questions lang,,yung isa e picture na papakita sa computer and you
will just describe what you see,,ganun lang..ok din kahit di mo matapos yung
time mo,,or pwede ka pa ring sumagot kahit paubos na time as long as meaningful
yung sinasabi mo,until you ran out of time..just relax and concentrate on your
questions.

Im applying as a caregiver in Canada because my aunt who
lives in Toronto get me to take care of his kid. Im really anxious about the
exam since I dont have any experience about the caregiving though I've been
working in the hospital on the geriatric ward.
*****
hello po, in my own experience, medyo madali ung mga
question, you just to answer it direct to the point, you are allowed to answer
in 90 secs included na dun ung pagbabasa ng questions, just concentrate on your
questions and be calm & relaxed.. same tau ng condition, nurse din me at
currently employed s hospital.. I got the letter a week ago, for medical na daw
po ako, di namention if I passed or failed sa Speak test.. the quesstions
include childhood and elderly diseases, how to manage, procedures like bed
making, pulse checking , my first aid din etc.. 5 questions lahat, my warm up
question dun, about experiences mo or personal info.. Gudluck po!!!

skills)
2. define a high calorie diet
3. shampooing process
4. high blood prevention

na lang guard kung san yung building for the speak test. i suggest, bisitahan
mo days before your speak test para ma familiarize mo yung lugar at direcho ka
dapat dire-direcho lang sagot mo hanggang maubos mo yung alloted time. iwasang
din ang 'ahhhh'... 'ummm'... good luck sa test. kaya at kailangang kayanin mo
yan. hehehe.

AUGUST2008
yung questions..
1. last time na umattend ng party...where? when? explain mo
lang kung ano nangyari..
2. foot care
3.how to avoid accident in the bathroom
4.sign and symptoms of shock
ako..until now nagppray ako..nung pinadalahan ka ng letter after speak test yun
letter ba panapadala?
*****
kung gusto mo ng
suspense wag ka ng tumawag after two weeks, kasi ang ibibigay lang sa iyo eh
rating mo sa a. english fluency and b. caregiving skills. di nila sasabihin
kung naka pass ka... i a advise ka rin nila na hintayin mo yung official
communication. 1-5 young rating, with 5 as the highest. may nakapagsabi sa akin
na 2.5 yung passing pero di naman ma confirm kung yun nga. in less than one
month (based on most timelines) makakatanggap ka ng letter from C.E. di
rin nilang interbyuhin anytime during the process) at kailangan mo ng magpa
other updated documents like nbi clearance.
*****
kung gumagana before the actual test, same with the mic. question lang makikita
babasahin mo yung question tapos para ma monitor mo yung time.
*****
AUGUST2008
based on my experience, nakakakaba talaga. 5 questions ang
binigay, each question you have 90 seconds to answer. kapag binigay ng monitior
ang sagot mo, it means umaandar na ang time mo. we're instructed na we can use
the back of the LCP form as a scratch in order to organize are answers. ang
hehehe..
1. ipapaexplain sayo any past experience between u and ur
daughter, son, nephew or niece. when? where? ( warm up lang daw ito to test ur
english)
2. changing the bed sheet of a bedridden patient?
3. how to prevent colic?
4. how measure temp in the axilla..
5. which of the ff. is not true about diabetes.. (there are
4 choices, limot ko na) :'(.. after answering that give sign of hyperglycemic?

3.About sa additional
documents, pano po isasubmit? callcenter ba o dropbox?

congratulations. may
of your choice, di na kailangan tumawag sa hotline nila.

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagshare about their speak
tests. Piece of advise sa mga kukuha...relax lang talaga and focus.
Magbreakfast before going to the testing site, it helps na may laman ang tiyan
para alert ang mind. Di maiiwasan di nerbyosin pero try to be calm. I am saying
this kasi ako super nataranta ako sa speak test, i did not take my breakfast at
super nerbyos kaya after nun i had post-stress syndrome. And the waiting time
was killing me kasi nga nataranta ako sa test di ako sure sa mga sagot ko. So,
please try to relax sa testing day.
As far as i can remember eto yung mga questions ko:
1. When was the last party you attended, when, and describe.
2. First aid of heartburn.
3. Signs and symptoms, and first aid of heart attack.
4. How to sterilize feeding bottles.
5. How do you make a conducive environment at home for
senior citizens (something like that forgot the exact question).

question shows..just go straight to the point..marami ka na ding masasabi dun

@ all (re
PDOS , POEA)
THINGS NEEDED FOR POEA CLEARANCE FOR DIRECT HIRES
This is definitely clear. If you are a direct-hire, meaning you were able to secure a work from a foreign employer without obtaining an agency, you still need to obtain a POEA clearance even though you have your VISA and plane ticket already. Chances are, you will be denied exit in the Immigration Counter at the Manila International Airport.
First things to have.
Phase 1
1.) Valid and not to expire Philippine Passport.
2.) Working VISA from the country that you will work for.
3.) Employment Contract signed by the employer
- This should be verified in any Philippine Overseas Labor Office in any Philippine Embassy Office or Consular Office in the designated country you wish to work. It means that the labor attache should be able to sign the document and there should be a dry seal by the POLO office, and/or there are other supporting documents from the POLO office that would support the said contract. However, there are cases wherein authentication and verification is bypassed. Japan's working VISA is allowed since procurement of a Certificate of Eligibility is very difficult in Ministry of Justice in Tokyo. In this case, added document is needed which is the Employee-Employer Waiver Form. See below.
- Should be in English and in the country's native language.
4.) Certificate of Eligibility (if for Japan)
5.) Loads of 1x1 and 2x2 ID Pictures
Second thing to do.
1.) Once Phase 1 has all been obtained, prepare yourself for a gruelling and tiresome POEA process. Physically, emotionally and mentally. Photocopy at least 2 copies of all documents in Phase 1.
2.) Go to POEA office in Ortigas, infront of Robinson's Galleria, as early as 630AM or earlier the better because there are a lot of people who transact with this office. Ask the guard if where is the line for the DIRECT HIRE department.
3.) Once lined-up, the guard on duty will give you a white card as your access to the 2nd floor in the DIRECT HIRE/NAME HIRE department.
4.) Once you are in the 2nd floor of the name hire department, write your name on the paper located near Window 6 or 7 or 8. Ask the guard that will escort you on this.
5.) Obtain a free folder near window 6 then staple the following:
Left side: All photocopies of Phase 1, except the photos of course.
Right side: All the original documents in Phase 1.
6.) Wait for your name to be called. Be attentive.
7.) Once called, submit the folder in the window to the person that will evaluate the documents.
8.) Once done, go back to the blue seats area then wait again for your name to be called. Again, be attentive.
9.) Once called, and all documents will be approved, the POEA evaluator will have you sign a certain document which I forgot and imprint your thumb mark and she/he will give you the following documents.
- PDOS reservation form.
- Medical check-up endorsement form.
- Employee-Employer Waiver Form
- Registration Form
- The folder you prepared and submitted in Step 5.
10.) Next thing to do is to have a reservation for Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS or PEOS) on the PDOS section. There is a large sign that you will see in the 2nd floor for this and I am sure you will not get lost or better ask any liaison officer or any guard where is the PDOS area. Again, do not waste time because this PDOS has limited slots. Proceed directly and have your name listed. Then the POEA evaluator will instruct you to have the Employee-Employer Waiver form signed by the company/employer's president/HRD or anyone who is in-charge of your employment. You can either:
- a. Fax the document and sent back again to you via fax then keep it later for submission along with the other documents.
- b. Scan it to PDF or image then send it to your contact in the company you work for then print it, have it signed by any authorized signatory then scan it back again then have them send it to your e-mail then you print again.
It depends which is convenient and cheaper for you.
11.) Once you have obtained the schedule, do not ever attempt to be late. Once the PDOS has started, they will not allow you to enter. Then, make it sure your name is listed and called during the roll call. Make it sure that your name is spelled or pronounced correctly. The PDOS certificate's spelling of your name is very important. If there are discrepancies on the spelling of your name, have them correct it right away because this might be a problem in the Immigration counter in the airport.
12.) Whichever way comes first, if you have ample time for your medical exam, choose the most accessible, reliable and cheapest DOH-accredited clinic or hospital. Prepare P1,500.00 or more for the exam. Prepare at least 3 ID-sized pictures. The cost of the medical exam would depend on the country you want to go and the type of exams needed by the foreign country. Other countries require you to have up to 9-sets of vaccine. So better inquire from your employer about this.
Things to remember before taking medical exam:
1.) Stool is the most difficult to produce. Have your medical exam taken on the day you can produce your stool.
2.) Have yourself rested well because the body's iron count drops if you lack sleep. With this, they might ask again for another set of blood specimen from you if they find you anemic. Things to combat this problem and you have to anticipate this: 1. Drink iron supplements like Iveret (most recommended) or Stresstabs.
3.) Wear decent underwear as the doctor will have to examine your ass if there are lacerations or spots. Also the doctor will look at your testicles (for men) if there are unusual things.
4.) Take a bath thoroughly and clean your teeth especially for the dental exam.
5.) Do not forget to bring your eyeglasses if you already have.
6.) Prepare for a battery of psychological exams.
13.) Once your medical exam is already released and it indicates that you are FIT TO WORK, bring it along with the result of 10a or 10b, together with the folder submitted in STEP 5 and the filled-up POEA Registration Form, submit all of them in Window 9.
14.) Once evaluated that everything is good already meaning no deficiencies, they will give an endorsement for payment.
Payment Details:
a.) POEA Fee - USD100 or the equivalent computed peso value based on the day's exchange rate.
b.) OWWA Contribution - USD25 or the equivalent computed peso value based on the day's exchange rate.
c.) Medicare - P900.00
15.) Once you are already paid, you can be able to get the E-Receipt and OFW Card. Keep it and do not lose those documents. You are now done with the pesky POEA process.
16.) Prepare everything and remember the following:
a.) In buying a ticket or rebooking a ticket, since you are already an OFW, you are EXEMPTED from paying TRAVEL TAX. If you bought already a ticket, ask for a refund from the agency and show them your OFW E-Receipt and other documents.
b.) You are also exempted from paying TERMINAL FEE which is P750.00.
c.) Maximum baggage weight allowed for international flights is 20kg for Northwest and some airlines and 30kg for Philippine Airlines. Baggage limit varies from airline to airline. Also, please observe airport policies and procedures when checking-in on the airport.
17.) Once all is set, arrive 2-3 hours before the departure time.
18.) When in NAIA, go to OFW Check-in Center and show them the following documents you have obtained in number 15.
- Passport
- VISA
- E-receipt
- OFW Card
- Contract Validated by POEA
- PDOS Certificate
- Airline tickets (could be e-ticket)
19.) Then you can check-in to your designated air carrier. Remember that ALL Philippine Airline flights are in PAL TERMINAL 2 while other airlines are in NAIA. Those two airports are different.
20. Remember the steps when checking-in at the airport.
a.) OFW Check-in Center
b.) Airline check-in counter
c.) Terminal Fee counter
d.) Immigration counter
- Please do remember that Immigration Officials will only look for POEA Clearance especially if you are carrying a WORKING VISA. For other special cases like UN or any International Government agency endorsed VISAS with corresponding certificates from embassies and other consular offices of that foreign country, please verify with Bureau of Immigration and POEA in obtaining other forms of certificates that is acceptable and would merit entry with Immigration Agents in the Immigration counter.
e.) Pre-departure lounge
21.) Remember not to bring anything pirated like CDs, DVDs, and other things that might deny you entry on the airport.

GREETINGS
FROM THE PHILIPPINE OVERSEAS LABOUR OFFICE IN TORONTO!
Kamusta po kayong lahat diyan sa Pilipinas?
POLO stands for the Philippine Overseas Labour Office. It is the labour arm of the Philippine Consulate General or Philippine Embassy in foreign countries where there are large concentrations of Overseas Filipino Workers.
Before leaving the Philippines to work abroad, all Overseas Filipino Workers are required to apply for an Exit Clearance (also called the Overseas Employment Certificate, or OEC) at the POEA.
For OFWs bound for Canada, before an OFW can apply for an Exit Clearance, the Canadian Employer (depending on their location) will submit Employment Documents for VERIFICATION AND AUTHENTICATION to the appropriate POLO (please see previous entries to this thread).
Submission of incomplete documents, documents sent without payment and documents sent to the wrong POLO by your Canadian Employer will be cause for delay.
This is a Philippine Government requirement. The Canadian Visa issued to you by the Canadian Embassy is NOT the last step. You CANNOT exit the Philippines as an OFW without your Canadian Employer submitting the Employment Documents for VERIFICATION AND AUTHENTICATION.
Lahat po ng mga Canadian Employer na kumukuha ng worker (direct hire, or through the use of a third party representative) is required to comply with Philippine Government requirements.
Time, Mondays through Fridays except on Philippine and Canadian National Holidays.
For faster service, may we suggest you email us directly in lieu of PMs, as email sent to the aforementioned address is usually answered within 24 hours of receipt.

ang mga pinagtatanong may konting akong alam. Eto mga questions sa akin nun:
1st part: Personal questions (like where do you, where you
grew up)
2nd part: 2 minute question- Describe the latest vacation
you had (na-swetrehan ako dito kasi a month before my exam, I was in Cebu for
the Holy Week vacation, syempre marami akong nasabi)
3rd part: Parang batuhan na ng mga questions, what do you do
before you take a vacation, which one do you prefer, travelling on business or
Be talkative and syempre sensible mga sinasabi mo. Be at
ease, take a deep breath before entering the exam roon.
PM me your email add so I could send you speaking task cards
I found in the net. Andun mga ibang natanong sa akin, maganda to practice with
